    Guys/gals.

I have a toshiba 7020ct which I just put a hard drive into (4Gb ibm disk) (I got it with the hard drive removed but was told it was working before removal)
I can read from and write to the HDD in dos (from boot disk) and i have gotten 3/4 of the way through a win Me install but when it restarts the Lappy is saying
invalid system disk! I have googled the Hard drive and the jumper settings are correct, bios settings are correct (as far as I can tell) it will boot from a boot disk.Fdisk tells me the partition info is correct, scandisk says the sectors etc are ok!
    Any help would be welcome.

have you tried running IBM/Hitachi diagnostics on the drive, try http://www.ultimatebootcd.com
or here if you just want the bootable disk

was there previously Win2K, Linux or XP on the drive? If so you may need to reset the Master Boot Record.

'fdisk /mbr' will do it at a dos prompt. You need a 95, 98 or me version of fdisk if I remember rightly.

this doesn't wipe the drive just reset's the mbr. If you are multi-booting then this WILL cause you problems so be sure before you go and reset.

    Good luck.

    mo.

Ill try that, is "fdisc/mbr" a command? or an option inside fdisk, its a win Me boot disk.

    Thanks for the help! :)
