I'm organising a trip to Vegas for my friends and me in April, We're all (most of us) turning 30 next year... boo hoo!

I want to book Flights and accomadation on the net to get the best deals. Or am I better off going through a travel agent?

Can anyone who has gone to Vegas give me names of recomended Hotels as I'm afraid of booking one and it turning out to be a nightmare. Also can anyone recomend a Direct Flight from Dublin.

Your advice would be most welcome ;)

dublinpubscene.com... where do you want to go tonight?

    A few things to note:

It is far cheaper i mean you save hundreds by flying Dublin-Los Angeles and driving/bus to Las Vegas. Flights from Dublin into Las Vegas are indirect and very expensive.

All the main hotel/casinos are fine. It just depends how much you want to spend. I have stayed at the strasphere and imperial palace hotels, which are reasonable and very nice. Works out at around 40-50 euro a night. Best deals via www.hotels.com .

Check out www.tripadviser.com for recommendations. Mid-week hotel prices are always alot more reasonable than weekend. I have stayed in Paris and the MGM which were both great. I also stayed in Circus Circus which is a dump. Make sure you stay on the strip even if it is a little more expensive. Flights into Vegas from Ireland are not mad expensive and are less hassle than flying to LA and hiring a car. Especially if you are only going for a few days....

Mandalay bay and luxor are good hotels. You can get very cheap rooms if you book directly at the hotel website. Even cheaper if you wait til you get there to book. These hotels have 4000 - 8000 rooms available so there are plenty to spare.
Also stay on the strip. eg Treasure Island, luxor, mgm, mandalay, caesers palace etc.
The stratosphere is way way off the strip and you'll have to travel up every night.

If you ask the lads on the Poker Forum, you will get plenty of advise.

(Just listen to the advice on the Flights & Accommodation though :) )

I flew with Aer Lingus to Chichago and then onward to Las Vegas with American Airlines. Was not at all expensive.

Stayed at Ballys, which is on the strip beside Paris. As it is not a 'themed hotel' the rooms were quite cheap in comparison to others and the hotel itself was very nice. We booked the hotels through www.expedia.com

All hotels do good deals mid week. I stayed in the MGM, great hotel so much in it, prob one of the better casinos too. Fly to LA with Aer Lingus, then try southwest airlines (low fares), they actually do Vegas hotel deals too. great place, cant wait to go back

My recommendation would be to fly from Dublin to Los Angeles with Aerlingus (www.aerlingus.com) and then fly from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. The major casinos subsidise your flights because they want to get you in to their hotel and spending money on gambling. You can buy flight + hotel packages from www.lasvegas.com. I've booked through this website and it was very good! Either that or, America West airlines have return flights from Los Angeles to Las Vegas for less than $100, probably much less than that!

It could also be fun to drive, but the journey would be approximately 6 hours long from Los Angeles, compared with 1 hour on a plane.

Regarding accommodation, stay on the strip! Also, it enhances the overall experience if you stay in one of the themed hotels / casinos (The Excalibur and Alladdin hotels are great fun!).They're not any more expensive than a normal motel or hotel in Vegas.
