Im thinking of getting an Xbox now that theyre relativly cheap and i feel ive missed out on a good few games this generation. Im trying to play through all ive missed.
So if i get an Xbox, what 3 games would you reccomend?
    Halos a given.
Im trying to pick two games from the following : Chronicles of Riddick, Far Cry, Fable, Strangers Wrath.
    What would everyone suggest?

To be honest i wouldnt bother with Halo, unless you've never played a FPS

Far Cry is only out and would be a better choice

What type of games are you into? sports/3rd persons/fps/racing ?

Don't listen to him, Halo is sweet, so well balanced, get Halo2 if you are going online, out of the titles mentioned get fable and strangers wrath, but must say the best game I have had in the entire xboxes lifetime has been Star Wars; Knights of the Old Republic.
Even if turn based rpgs are your biggest turnoff, its brilliant, really expanding the franchise and even if the most recent movie offerings left you empty and disappointed, this will pick you right up again!
I would buy Project Gotham Racing 2 as well, even if its only for Geometry Wars!

Oh yeah Knights of the Old Republic does sound very good... thats another consideration. Halo, Far Cry and Knights seems like a good option (im into FPSs and action games mainly) althought Strangers Wrath is also very tempting...

    Fable is cool

New game called Cold War might interest you.

Also World Racing 2 is a good arcade/sim racer

Both games should be out by the end of the month.

I'll not start an argument about Halo, but i wouldnt buy it, most ppl have it free with there system, so you could get it for free/cheap

Fable is ok, but way to short, just when the story has you its all over unless you are one of these anal types who has to collect every thing and explore every nook and cranny, the main story just kinda ends, brilliant up to then though. Knights is better, far longer and Halo is still very bery good, nice feeling of being in the midst of battle, harder difficulty just makes it better, making a level that you breeze through on normal become a series of 30 min long engagements on the next difficulty level, a very nice game, nothing realy like it has been before, far better than its sequel, although the Xbox Live portion of Halo2 is incredible.

There is no point really but some people really do like it.

I love Halo 1 but Halo 2 was only average. I would say buy the 1st one and if you like it buy the second.

All of 20 people have played it and it can be quite hard to find but Panzer Dragoon Orta is by far the best action game on the xbox. I'd pick it up before any of the Halo games if you aren't going online.

Edit: Ninja Gaiden, the second best reason to get an xbox. It's excellent. just don't believe the comments from plebs that say it's too hard. As long as you are patient and realise it isn't about waving your weapon about randomly but waiting for an opening to strike then it really isn't all that difficult.

Three games, eh? How about 9!
    My Favourites Include

RPG: The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind GOTY ed. w/The Morrowind Prophecies book/bible
FPS: Medal of Honour: European Assault---> sweet sweet nazi blood bath, 'nough said
Action: Grand Theft Auto: III, VC & SA---> Kill, Steal, Repeat as desired
Sports: NHL '06---> The Canadians are going 82-0 and also many many great leagues and features: Creation Zone, Season, World Cup, etc
AND: Destroy All Humans, Knights of the Old Republic 1&2

One piece of advice I would give you is do NOT get Fable. It's only a few steps removed from a hack'n'slash platfrom game, IMO. It has a few RPG elements alright, such as buying different potions, weapons, etc, but there is fúck all choice of weapons in the game, the world map/game environment is EXTREMELY linear; you basically go around these "paths" throughout the game, (it's alot like "Medievil" on PS1, if you've ever played that). For an alleged "RPG" game, it's very short. I finished it in about 16 hours, and had done everything there was to do in the game. So, yeah, if I were you I would strike Fable off my list immediately.

Anyway, here's what I do recommend:

    Halo 1/2 - obviously

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 1/2 - These are the best RPG's on the Xbox, and the best I've played since FF7. 'Nuff said.

Soul Calibur 2 - Best beat 'em up EVER. It's so freaking good, the gameplay is absolutely fantastic. I've played this game for well over 200 hours and it's still brilliant. Ideally though you want a family member or a mate to play this with a lot, as the true entertainment in the game only comes out when you and your mate are frantically hacking, parrying, counter-parrying and generally aiming to damage each other.

Ninja Gaiden - Best platform game in a long long time. Very long for a platfrom game, too. Great storyline, and a very challenging game. Buy this game if you think you might in any way enjoy acrobatically hacking up other ninjas, soldiers, soldiers with gatling guns, tanks, giant thunder worms, ghost fish, the undead, and many other life-forms.

Pro Evo 5 - This new one is out already, I think. (It is out on Xbox, isn't it?). Well, if you've played pro-evo already, then you already know this game is a must-have.

Unreal Championship 2003(?) - A fúcking BRILLIANT FPS. Ideal if you have 2-3 mates to play it with. Endless, frantic fps fun.

Yeah, there are more games, but these are probably the best of the lot on Xbox.

Jade Empire - from the same crowd as did KOTOR 1 and let me tell you they did a fantastic job.

PS. I'll sell you an xbox with 30 games for around 300 quid - 4 joypads, mem card, dvd playback kit, official carry case, advanced rgb cable w/ optical out for 5.1 the lot.. :D

ninja gaiden black is out atm (or is just about 2 b released)
    Its outstanding
Baulders gate 2, probably the best rpg aside from kotor on the xbox
    Farcry is amazing
Oh and burnout 3 or revenge, one of the series is vital :)

I cant believe the hype about burnout.I bought it a while back and the next day I brought it back.Absolute rubbish.Project gotham 2 is a great driving game or forza.

i think that you should definitely get kotor 1&2.
    ninja gaiden, yeah, that's brilliant.
the great escape, a good bit too simple and short, but if you like the movie, you may well love the game.
silent hill 4, the room, but only if you love getting the living shjt scared out of you.(its not even that scary, it's just twisted!)

Burnout 3 is probably the best game I've played on the Xbox... it's a great racer :)
Also liked Halo, Ninja Gaiden and Kingdom Under Fire is quite good too. I've had Panzer Dragoon Orta strongly pimped at me by a Sega-loving friend, but I haven't gotten around to playing it yet.
