Accessing gmail with thunderbird

    Anybody else having difficulty accessing gmail with thunderbird when connected to one of the ucd wireless hotspots.I just keep getting"connection to server pop.gmail.com timed out". Do I need additional settings to get it to work.

    it wont work in ucd's wifi hotspots becuase gmail uses port 995 and ucd only allow http over wifi, just use gmails web site.

    Actually I can use MSN Messenger, the app, in the wifi spots.. And it's not http, rather port 1863.. But yahoo msg wasnt working, ports 20, 23, 25, 80, 119, 5050, 8001, 8002... why?

    I think MSN will attempt to connect using your IE connection settings and therefore use UCD proxy to connect. If you configure yahoo to use one of teh ucd proxies it will connect too. even on wireless.
