    Just my opinion, and I'd like to be proven wrong when it does end, but I say it'll all be terrible in the end because;

    - too much media/internet hype has for some reason elevated lost above any other series on tv, which has caused this:

    - the theories put forward on the net from all over the world are really out there and spectacular, (as the producers have said they don't even know how it will end yet) so they will have either use one of these ideas or try to top them, and unfortunately that will cause 1 of 3 scenarios;

    1. The ending will be much less spectacular than the many theories and ideas ppl hav come together and generated. People will be disappointed.

    2. The ending will be TOO spectacular and simply implausible.

    3. They may use one of the existing theories which will leave people thinking; "well i figured as much" and also leave them unfulfilled.

Why else are the producers trying to secure 7 seasons and not want to reveal all the big secrets till then? They want to milk it and when we get to the end of it all, its not gonna make a difference to ratings or money anymore so they won't have to worry about it as much, unlike now as they currently try to put in extreme cliffhanger endings etc. They're just chugging along keeping the show moving as slow as possible getting ppl more and more impatient and getting them more and more into watching it ever week for just a tiny bit more information.

Sorry for the rant, and as I say, I hope I'm wrong, but it's just what i think....!! Lost will all end in tears

    i agree with it all.

nonetheless, ill enjoy it while it lasts. all of the predictions and googling references and buzz about is what makes the show fun.

anyway, it cant be as much of a letdown as Millennium - cancelled in summer 1999. :'(

I predict that the near the end of the show (in its final series) will be a huge revelation followed by a 'Sixth Sense' style flashback showing us little clues we missed throughout the series...

sorry if someone mentioned this before, but i heard thatthe 3rd and last series will be a film....thats not true is it? i've heard it from a few people already

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,216 ✭✭✭✭monkeyfudge

I've heard that it will run for anything between 3 to 5 series. And they've promised the actors a Lost feature film at the end of it to make up for the fact that they all get paid a lot less than the actors on Desperate Housewives.

Personally I think going for a fairly ambiguous ending would be their best bet. Something that will keep you wondering about the whole thing long after the series has finished, because as has been said, any ending they come up with will be disappointing.

They should do something like what they did in The Prisoner... now THAT was an ending.

i agree wit the ambiguous ending idea. but how did prisoner end again, i dont remember? wasnt it cancelled at the 17th episode or something and never actually got a full season made?

STOP DISSING THE MILENIUM! It rocked my world and the ninties sucked ass. All i remember is bad pop music and bad pop-rock. Now the eighties. thats a different story.Hey riddik can I borrow your time machine? But seriously i heard that it'll end in a movie aswell .

I don't really mind all that much how it ends. It doesn't necessarily have to tie all ends up in order for it to be a great show.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,945 ✭✭✭Anima

I think the writers are good enough to come up with something good. Have a little faith :)

Besides, most of the theories I hear are complete bull****/retarded.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact that over sea's each group of episodes is called a series and not a bloody season but oh well. It doesn't matter how the show ends because someone will find fault with it.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer ended on a happy note, (Sure Anya and Amanda Died and Xander Lost an Eye) But still the core group survived. Spike was ressurected and all was tied up in a neat little bow. Sort of

Angel Ended on a cry for battle. "Let's go to work" and the show fades to black as Angel, Spike, Illeria and a MORTALLY WOUNDED Gunn charge into battle for what could possibly be the last time. Or it could be just the beginning. We don't know We'll never know Unless Joss decideds to make a movie.

X-Files just went down hill. The execs at fox were stupid to think the show could survive with out david. The ending was just bad.

Seinfeld ended awkward. The first time i saw the finalle of it i was horafied. I thought it was terrible. Then it grew on me.

The thing is. No matter how or when it ends we will never be satisfied. Thats just the way we are.

    Just my opinion btw

    It wasn't really cancelled.

It was actually supposed to have a lot less episodes, but it proved popular so it's run was extended.

For anyone who is a fan of Lost and hasn't seen the Prisoner, then you should definitely check it out. You've no doubt seen it satirised many times on shows like the Simpsons

It's about a secret agent who resigns from his job and then soon after he is drugged and wakes up in this strange village on an island where everyone is known by numbers. And each week he (Number 6) would try to escape, and each week the head of the village (Number 2, we never knew who Number 1 was) would try to break Number 6 to find out why he resigned. The village was very strange and a giant white bouncing ball which would roam the village to make sure no one would escape. There were some very bizarre and strange episodes.

    As for how it ended...
In last epsiode of the series it turns out that Numer 1 is actually Number 6 in a gorilla outfit. And I guess it was supposed to be a statement on how we are all prisoners of ourselves. There is a lot more to the last episode than that, but it was a completely off the wall episode that I'm sure drove most people nuts when they saw it.

Man: "Why did you think a giant ball would stop him?"
    Woman: "Shut up! That's why!"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,216 ✭✭✭✭monkeyfudge

    Hey!

That giant ball was scary... especially when it suffocated people... like Hans Moleman.

the thing with the prisoner is that the intro gave it away...

    who is number one?

you are number six... ( is the common mistake)

you are, number six is what he actually says...

but as for making no sense until the end and then the 'oh my god it all fits together'... babylon 5... i hope lost doesn't go that way.

Try it Marge, it's like kissing a peanut.

This Simpsons quote button sure does come in handy.

    Just 2 things.

I think Lost is more about getting there than what the actual outcome might be. Even if it is an anti-climax we'll have had some damn good fun up to then.

Millenium was an excellent series. I give credit to Chris Carter for the massive improvement in production standards on tv series.

they all get off the island
