Anyone have any experience of the vw golf 1.8t remap

Just looked this up, the weak 150bhp 1.8t can be remapped to 196bhp 240ft of torque for £445 stg.

I realise handling will still be weak but it would be a quick car, how would this affect other components tho?

Your not getting a Mk IV Golf now are ya? You would be unpleasantly surprised compared to what you have now or what you could get for the same budget. 1.8T can be easily remapped but is prone to problems. Check this out

just having a look at it, to be honest they dont represent great value to be fair.

COuld be harder than i thought to get a good fiat for 10k, any other suggestions

If you can live with a car designed in Japan, there are a lot of fast ones out there within your budget. Think Scooby WRX, Lancer EVO, Civic Type R, ITR, Prelude 2.2 VTEC, Nissan Skyline...

Import from UK or buy one previously imported from UK. Inspection by expert a must though

of the japs listed only one appeals is the prelude and the girlfriend isnt a fan the rest of them have a pretty bad image unfortunately

Rare in Ireland, not as rare in the UK. I'd seriously consider importing. Just checked the VRT for ya and it is about €3k for a '00 20V Turbo. The coupes were very cheap in the UK towards the end
