    Please advise without banning me!

And if I'm not, kindly point me in the right direction!

    I thank you.

    ok then.

Silver Slim PS 2 w/ Inifinity chip.

It's brand new. Selling due to arrival of PSP. Not looking to make profit, but this retails in Ireland for 255. Will listen to offers over 200.

    PM me for details.

Did you get permission to sell here? I dont think the mods on FS even understand what console modding entails, they seem to think it is some highly illegal criminal racket, so I didnt even try.

my post on FS was deleted and no explanation given, but i can figure it out....

As far as I know, console modding isn't illegal. Copying games to play on them is illegal. All the modification does is void your warranty!

and no, i didnt get permission to sell here, but the thread has lasted a pretty long time here without being deleted, so either no mods have seen it, or theyve turned a blind eye.

AFAIK it's one of their rules, that modded consoles can't be sold here. You can understand why. It's in the FS charter.

The firmware on the modchip *may* not be legal. Such is the case with some Xbox firmwares, aside from the Open-Source 'Cromwell' BIOS.

If the console doesn't have an 'illegal' BIOS, then it's the same as selling a toaster with a gold star stuck to the side.
Regardless, the Chip doesn't necessarily have to have any BIOS on it at all. You could write it full of 0s or 1s, just as you would a 2nd-hand harddrive, thereby negating any argument that there may not be a 'legal' BIOS for a particular modchip for a particular console (past, present and future).

<disclaimer>IF, HOWEVER, IT'S BEING SOLD WITH GAME BACKUPS OR A HARDDRIVE LOADED WITH GAME IMAGES, THEN IT IS ILLEGAL.</disclaimer>
    <extra>Also, I haven't mentioned Soft-Mods as I don't dabble in that side of things much at all</extra>

In Short: The idealistic (read:sly-eyed-winky-hoor) side of me doesn't agree with the ban on the sale of modified consoles, but it would be naïve to ignore the obvious loophole involved as it is impossible to verify whether a modified console comes clean as a whistle or is full of warez with fresh poop sliding off the sides. The actual legal specifics regarding fair-use etc. in Ireland are unclear to me, but mod-chips themselves are legal, and any I've used came loaded with legal code.
In this case, the mods seem willing to enforce their decision, and that is the reality.

Obviously thats just illegal distribution of copied games, the same as if you were selling dvd backups.

They already proved that the sale of Mod chips and modded consoles was LEGAL in australia.
