Since some people have been wondering about a rant/bitch/moan thread I was thinking we should have a thread where we can describe how our day in college went. There are similar threads on the After Hours forum I do believe.
    I'll start off:

A pretty good day actually. Even though I missed my first lecture I ended up going to fencing and it was better than I thought. I met a few people and went to the forum bar afterwards and it was a good laugh all round.

Making the effort really does work.

I have to be up for a 9 o'clock lecture tomorrow though.

Fencing eh? Sounds interesting.. I won't bore people with yesterdays 'non' day, man college can be boring but today is gonna be a good un.. microbiology lab, statistics, chemistry all in a row.. shoot me now!! :( Maybe it'd be better if people post about the good things that happen to them in college.. So the next time I promise to type something interesting..

I'm sitting in the lab in CS waiting for my multimedia lab to start. I'm absolutely wrecked, this is my 2nd 9am in a row :( and I was in 9-8 yesterday because I'm doing level 2 Japanese this year.
Today... multimedia lab, then 4 hours free, then multimedia lecture. So not too bad, except for the being in at 9am (and all the fighting for a seat on the 17 that entails) part.

Yesterday was good for me, I got a problem sheet done and it was much easier than it looked, which was nice, and apart from the 3 hours of maths physics lectures in a row it was quite an easy day.
And oh yeah I went to fencing too. Was good fun but I didn't go to the forum afterwards - I had absolutely no money - well 2 euro but that wouldn't have gotten me far... :(
good day in all though :)

I spent 20 minutes this morning drving around looking for a parking space. What the fudge? Late for my lecture and everything because of it. Thanks GOD for C&E and QSOC girls who cant drive their Peugeot 206s and I can just force my way past them. Givin'em the finger and shouting , "wash yer face. its filthy". Well I didnt shout but I was thinking it.

Meh got up extra early (7.30 instead of usual 7.50 :p ) so i'd be on time for my GEOL10010 MCQ test thingy. Bloody bus was even slower than usual and ended up having to run from the bus to the lecture. Only just got in on time.
The test then went horribly (i only joined the subject last week so missed the relevant lectures). Thought i'd looked over the lectures i'd missed enough but obviously he'd waffled passed what he stuck on the slide.
    Ah well only 8%

Then had 3hrs of Accounting. God damn its so boring when she goes through it all step by step by step by ste...

Got an hour off now before Matrices& Vectors (which so far has beena doddle) and Prob Solving and Algorithim design which i feel im starting to get the hang of.

Overall, i've had worse days but had a lot better too (like last monday where i was 20mins late for a tutorial and left 20mins early cos i got done quickly. It was my only thing of the day too! :) )

I got up at 11 and haven't been into college yet. I'm on from 3-5. Lovely algorithmic problem solving and a lovely tutorial after it.
I did burn my breakfast though :(

Hey Mr Nice Guy, is Fencing worth joining?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,750 ✭✭✭ghostchant

Had Sociology then Psychology then Sociology again in a row followed by English after an hour break. For some reason the whole computer system seems to collapse every time my introduction to sociology lecturer tries to use it, the worst part is though when they eventually do fix it for him he goes on about it for about 20 minutes afterwards meaning we get nothing done.

After that in the English class we were doing Treasure Island and for no reason whatsoever the lecturer suddenly feels the need to spoil the end of season 1 of Lost (I'm watching it on C4 which is only half done), luckily I managed to cover my ears and hum to myself (much to the confusion of the person beside me) so I didn't hear anything but still it put me in a ****ty mood for the rest of the lecture.

Spent half the morning lolling about in bed, the other half swanning around town, and the afternoon arsing around outside the arts block smoking section. In between I managed to sqeeze in a lecture.

    Pretty good day alright.

not too bad at all. have made all my lectures since going back this term, even though it's pretty hard to keep myself motivated when hungover!!! Tried to go for a jog.. but failed miserably and ended up walking for most of it. :o it will get better.. . won't it?!!!

Well yesterday, spent the entire day procrastinating rather than doing my Medieval manuscripts homework (sounds a bit like something out of Harry Potter), teased my sister unmercifully (always fun), did the lotto (and won nothing) and dyed my hair, before finally drawing and translating the letters into modern letter forms on the homework. Got the second train to Dublin this morning, because, like Peachy, I too have wednesdays off this semester, thought I'd be a little late, but so was the lecturer, so I was spot on time. Have spent the past two hours doing nothing, and am going home after my lecture at 2 to get ready for my class party tonight.

Oh, and I just found out that the babies die of typhoid in the book I'm reading.

    Pretty t'rrific on the whole.

Sitting in the back of DSA now... waiting for the lecture to start. I slept late for my 12.00 lecture today, but my lecturer was late too so that was ok :p
Spent most of the afternoon swearing at my Java code before enlisting the help of my friendly neighbourhood 4th years... and it now compiles :) woohoo!

I missed my first and only lecture this morning at nine thanks to the buses (or lack thereof). My body is aching today after doing boxing last night. I've never been put through my paces like I was last night. I thought I would collapse in exhaustion.

I have three essays to write by the 25th of October and haven't started any yet. Things are so hectic right now!

I'm the same, well I have 2 for the 28th and 1 for the 27th. Should be doing them now but.. nyih...

My day was pretty alright I suppose, had to be in for 9 (boo!) and then had to wait around for my tutorial until 1, which involved organising giving presentations (ahh!) and then had a driving lesson. That's about it... not very exciting really.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,081 ✭✭✭BKtje

today was better than yesterday anyways.

Golt a fairly sore throat so decided to sleep it in. Went in for geol tutorial which was a bit of a waffle and then prob solving +algo design turorial whos problem i finished after 5 mins and then couldnt figure out how i finished it for another 40mins. Got there eventually tho :D

Did you check with Services desk in case someone handed it in?

A good idea is to have a text file on the memory stick with your contact details and offer of a reward if its returned. First thing I do if i find one is to check to see if there are any files on it to identify its owner.

well i have possibly had the worst week, nevermind day of my life. So I have this short notes thing due for tomorrow, was there on tuesday typing it up on my ibook that i worked my arse off to buy and the thing just decides to give up on life, so its now back in apple being assessed until they decide whether to replace of fix it. Also lost the assignment. Went in yesterday typed some of it up in college, and left my memory stick in the computer(well i think i did, i blame the stress, brain not functioning too well), in the arts block, went in today no sign of it, don't even know where to think of asking. don't know whether to laugh or cry so i just came on here to moan about it! only things left in my life now are the car and my house keys, so i'm just waiting to see what goes next!!!

Well so far the day's looking very promising...!

I didn't have to wait very long for the buses this morning... was a little peeved that Ryan Tubridy and Gerry Ryan don't come on til like 9, so had to listen to other stuff on the bus til then(my mp3 player is dead)... So I got in about 9.20, loadsa time to go to Daedalus and check out my favourite website, boards.ie :p, and other such lark. There was a wierd dude sitting beside me who was turning on computers and looking around and spinning on his chair... strange. Anywho, after that I went to my 10 o clock comparative revolutions tutorial -- but I forgot that the tutorials alternate, so I don't have it til next week! -- so now I'm in one of the LG rooms on boards again :) I like this room...(first time in here)... not packed, not roasting hot (like Daedalus), and not miles away (like the computer science building). And the keyboard I'm using is nice and smooth, so it feels nice on my fingers :o And the chair I'm on is kinda curved at the part you sit on, so my ass fits in nicely! :D

It's the little things that matter ;) But yeah, I've got an algorithmic prob solving lecture at 11(i hate it), comparative revolutions at 12(i love hugh gough), a 2 hour break(which I would prefer not to have, but how and ever..), and then social psychology lecture. I don't mind lectures(for most subjects)... tutorials are too interactive, in lectures you can just go asleep if you're tired, or listen if you're interested -- not too bad :D

Wow, that was some serious ramble-ance, eh? :o

Now now, coming down to CS is worth the effort... there's some wonderful people down here :p
I'm finished for the day now, just one lecture (digital systems) on a Friday, and it's on at 10am... not fair :(
I'm in the 2nd year lab in CS now, working on my DSA practical(again...) and waiting for my friends to finish their lectures for the day. But... I have to go to work this evening... :(

Finally f**king allowed back into the UCD forums (thanks a lot Truckle, next time you plan on banning me for absolutely no reason please inform me first. Cheers).

    *tumbleweed blows across the forum*

Well, since there's bog all going on here, I spose I'll be off then.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,604 ✭✭✭blondie83

What did you get banned for Seb? I had a nice day cos I've no lectures on a Friday. Got up at noon, went to an interview, popped into Dundrum on the way back to have a look at Harvey Nichols (the place is tiny!) Then found out that they sell lots of Japanese food in the food shop there, so bought nori (thats the toasted seaweed wrap they use to wrap aound sushi rice rolls). Then got home, got food and headed into Ag, where I'm now sitting and trying to make up my mind on which subjects to pick, but forgot my password so can't log into any subject descriptions :( Am trying to choose between optics (quite easy) and image and video compression (harder but much more interesting). Any thoughts anyone? Think I'll go off home now for dinner.... (wow this whole "talk about your day thing is quite theraputic!)

Nothing! That's the wierdness or it all.
    I just found myself unable to access boards on wednesay I think it was, so I PMed Truckle who said;
    I amde a boo boo.
Banned you to check something then when i was unbanning you i spelt your name wrong.
    SOWWEE!
Even then it took one more attempt at fixing it to finally allow me in but meh, at least I'm finally back, talking balls as ever.

Fair play to Truckle, he did apologise a good few times, and it was an honest mistake.
