Ok, I was on here a few weeks ago asking about graphics cards. Im new to the whole business of graphics. I was reccomened a 6600GT, and was ready to buy, until my uncle who works with computers informed me that I only have a PCI slot. Disaster! :(

So now Im stuck. I want to buy a graphics card to play Battlefield 2 and FarCry, but im very limited in my resources, as you can tell. The only ones ive found are Geforce XFX 5200 and a ATI Raedon 9250. As far as i can tell, the first may run Battlefield but the other wont. Would any of you reccomend getting either, or should I just save my money?

Step away from those cards, you aint gonna be playing much of anything with them :). You should really save up and try get a new mobo perhaps.
Dont think there are any decent pci gfx cards out there actaully.

Save your money. Or buy older games like Halo which aren't that demanding.

    Don't believe everything you're told.
The hardcore gamers with too much money have to run every game at maximum resolution with 32-bit colour depth, every optional texture type and detail imaginable and with a smooth framerate of 100fps.

If you just want to play the game, and don't have €400 to spare for top of the range graphics, the visual specs are very much negotiable.

The game requiremets are probably DX9.0x with 128Mb memory.
The FX5200 will probably do nicely with a 'reasonable' res and some of the optional effects turned off.

Thanks for the advice. Think the best option is to just save my money and buy some other gaming periphiral.... Im thinking of buying a laptop if i go to college next year so ill probs just save up and buy a decent gaming one when the time comes.

BF2 doesn't run fast enough on my laptop, P42.8/1GB RAM/fx5600 not matter what details you turn off.

it runs on mine fine man,

If you could get the GFX card upgraded you'd be sorted!

    (P4 3.0Ghz, 1Gb, Radeon 9600 Pro or 9800pro.............hmmmm not sure)

Im not sure where you would pick up a new GFX card or even where you could get it installed!
