    Question for the board:

I'm going to experimenting with a dish at the weekend, thanks to Tony.
I want to see what sat's I can recieve with my dish

Any recommendations of software that will make it easier to find sat's.
I have a GPS unit and a lidl sat finder.

Zaphod's already told be about gorbtrack, any other handy programs?

    www.smw.se for dish angle calculator

The GPS isn't much use unless you are camping!

    www.lyngsat.com

About 65E to 50W is limit for Ireland but look at foot print on Lyngsat, i.e Amos @ 4W and Nile@7W are not likely. West Beam of Eurasia/Turksat 42E yes, but East beam no.

Simarlarly many Atlantic transonders have Africa, Europe and America beams. You only get the Europe Beam. If there is an East or Central Europe "Spot" beam you won't get it.

By time Dish rotation reaches +/- 70 (not the sat position, you'll get less east and more west than 70 due to western position), the ground / building noise is too high. So 68E may be possible in London but not in Limerick.

All the US satellites visible above horison in MidWest are usingh America beams so even a 40m dish won't see them. About 50W is "last" western SAt with a beam this way.
