    Hi,

I am currently renting an apartment in lower leeson street in Dublin. I have been trying to connect to NTL digital or basic for the past 8 months! Each time an NTL guy came, they said that I can't be connected because there is no cable in the building and there is also no main cable system near enough to get me hook up on the service.

SKY is out of question as this is a 'protected building' and no satellite dish can be mounted. Have any of you guys suggestion on how can I get more channels?

Am I doomed to be stuck to just 4 channels?

Any help is very much appreciated.

    Thanks!

You need line of sight for a satellite dish- but no-one ever said it had to be attached to the building......
If you have a balcony facing East (or indeed a Window) this would suffice for getting Sky up and running......
Drilling holes in walls and window frames is optional :)

If there are no cabled buildings beside you then no you will not be able to recieve a cabled service, because you live in a Protected Building then you also may not be allowed to erect an Aerial to avail of the NTL Multilink service. This service has its signal fed through the aerial into a Digital Box installed in your home, but you would need to check this out with the Managment Company first.

Thank you very much for the advices.

There is an aeriel on the roof of the building already. Do you reckon it is possible to subscribe for NTL multilink? I've already rang NTL asking for mmds, but NTL told me that my area is a cable are (it's fecking not) and I can't subscribe to mmds.

I'm thinking of going to Magnet. However, I subscribed to Eircom broadband in March 05, and i think i'll wait till next March before terminating eircom. Magnet only offers digital tv if you connect to their broadband and phone line. :(

I'm not too sure if I can align a satellite from the living room. I'll check about this later.

    Thanks guys. ;)
