    Folks,
I've just bought a wireless network card, and it appears that it may not be compatible with my motherboard, due to the PCI version being incorrect.
It's an ASUS motherboard, nearing 3 years old, but I'm not sure of the exact model. How do I find out my PCI version?

    Cheers,
    S.

well had a quick look on google and the only way to work out which version was to read the manual that came with motherboard or to see if its written on the motherboard itself beside the PCI slots.

no pci itself has different versions v2.1, v2.2 etc. Most devices aren't fussy but obviously the OP has one that is....

most, if not all, asus boards in the last 3 years, should take every which type of PCI card there is. (discounting PCI-X)

If you check the specs of your your chipset they should detail exactly what version of PCI it supports :)

Amd boards will not support pci-e either.

Goto Asus main site/Look your board up in there support section/download manual - it should give those specs in there.

If not e-mail there support section and they will tell you

for the home site use Google (I'm being lazy tonight otherwise I'd find it for you :p)

e-mailing would probably be the best option as you will more than likely be able to obtain a 'Patch' (New Drivers) that will allow it to work or advice on what you can do/use

What I would try anyway - would certainly Guarantee that the manufactuer would know anyway ;)

if you download a program called aida 32 it will tell you the make and model of your motherboard as well as the manufactures webpage relating to that motherboard. Aida will tell you loads about your pc's organs but it won't tell you what PCI version you have. What a shame :(
