what are they quoting you ? Most sky + boxes are supplied via two wholesalers In Ireland so I'm not sure you will see a lot of price difference, if you have a quad already that you save you something as its included in the box price. Make sure you get an 80gb box too.

They're quoting me €299 + €75 installation, and won't let me buy the box on its own... don't need the lnb :-)

Then you should be able to buy at any independent for around €249 as you dont need the quad. Did I read on here that thet were doing sk+ for 150? perhaps that was for new installs?

Nothing, cos it'll only work with Sky Boxes.

Wrong. Works with any Digital Satellite receiver.

You get all the FTA channels.
i.e all the channels that work on your Digibox with card removed, plus about 30 extra if Irish sub card (The BBC regions and some BBC radio only via "Other Channels" on Irsh card).

Also in a few months all ITV, not just ITV3 & MM as at present.

About 270 TV inc shopping, ethnic and relgious and about 70 radio.

Sky indoctrination alert! Sky indoctrination alert!

There are 150+ free channels on Astra 2, he'll get all of these. These range from BBC1 through 4 to Sky News, some music channels, a few movie channels, and lots and lots of shopping channels.

I was told that the sky quad lnb's will only work with sky boxes, is that incorrect?

MYOB, I have sperate dishes for Sky and FTA, currently running one FTA reciever and 2 Sky (one with Freesat, one sky package), indocorinated, I don't think so.

Anyways, Git gains nothing by having another reciever on astra,he as 2 sky boxes already connected. he can use the 2nd dish he has and point it at hotbird or 19e.

in that case Tony, why do some websites have
    Standard LNB
LNB for use with two receivers from one standard (non sky mini dish) dish
and on a quad LNB for SKy
Allows you to connect up to four digiboxes to one minidish, can also be used for Sky + Boxes.

mis-informed, since they'd have no reason to lie.

I have no idea what point you are trying to make. In any case its nothing to do with the topic of this thread which is meant to inform not mislead.

Simple, that there's loads of conflicting or not clear info out there.

anyhows, I was talking to lazy on the fone, and told him of a better option.

They only work on Sky DISHES due to sky using a: a wanky LNB mount rather than a 40mm collar and b: the funny shape

They work fine with -any- box. I have one Sky and three FTA coming off mine.

    And that's been cleared up,
Sky LNB's can be used with digital recievers.

    Everyone happy?

Sky LNB's (being generic LNBs) can be used with (other ) digital recievers.
