Ireland beat scotland on the weekend.

If they win this one against Wales they will be in the final.

There is quite a comprenesive history of the tournaments, since 1935. Ireland joined in 2003. Ireland made the final last year.

I have a feeling that Ireland will be the team out of Wales, Scotland and Ireland to make the WC in 2008.
Ireland seems to be developing faster than the other two.
There are five spots open (with 5 teams preselected), but I really think 3 or even four Pacific Island teams will make it (Fiji, Samoa, Tonga and Maybe Cook Islands) - and I also think USA and Lebanon will make it hard for more than one side from the 'home nations' (other than England) to get in.
