Dublin daily commute - opinions

What are people's estimates (or exact figures if people actually do this commute) of a daily commute from the north side of Dublin, Clontarf area, to the Sandyford industrial estate? And back? Assuming the travel times are the usual morning rush hour and evening rush hour. So travelling to be in work by 9 and leaving work at 5/5:30ish.

I am assuming that the return trip should be ok on the way back into town but then become heavy when trying to get out the farside of town.

I am really looking for realistic estimates or actual times if people do this daily. I know Dublin is gridlocked during rush hour, but I'm just interested in anyones experiences getting across the city by either public transport or in a car or a bike or whatever.

    Anyone got an idea?

Get the bus into town and then the luas from Stephens Green to sandyford.
    Should take around an hour.

Good luck if you can get out of the Industrial Estate by 6pm if you finish at 5.30

It takes me in the evenings ~35mins (5.45-6pm finish) to get to Ranelagh/Donnybrook from the Industrial Estate. It takes 20 mins to drive the first 200 metres in the estate.
In the mornings it is slightly faster. I live approx. 5 miles from the estate (I must double check this but I've estimated it at that)
It's a 20 min cycle for me to and from work, when I'm not too lazy ;)

Depending on the way you take to get home it could be faster.

Bus from Kinsealy to town in the morning takes about 40 mins and about 45 coming home due to the Malahide road.

This thread would probably be best in Commuting/Transport forum or Dublin City forum.

If your trying to get through town in a car during rush hour forget about it. If you're living in Clontarf best bet is to get the DART from Clontarf Road to Pearse Station (less than 10 minutes), walk to Stephen's Green from there (10-15 mins) and get the LUAS to Sandyford (not sure how long that takes). You are probably looking at somewhere along a 1hr 15 minute commute.

If you ever wonder why the government want to tax car use look in the mirror. Cheaper, quicker and more environmentally friendly form of transport and you chose the other. Sorry but you are doing the exact thing that can really be called selfish.

Oh we like to judge, don't we?

I supposed you'll pay his funeral bills when WizZard is run over by a 16-wheeler.

Do you ride that high horse to work?

Public trans: 27X, Fairview to Nassau St. (there may be a quicker bus for you) - 20/25 mins, 5 mins walk & wait for tram, 25mins tram to Sandyford. Last 27X home leaves Nassau St. at about 17:45 so you'll have to find a different bus home. Dart to Pearse could work too - but it's a 10 min walk from Stephen's Green. Or you could Dart to Dun Laoghaire and get the 75 into the industrial estate.

Cycling: Clontarf -> Sandyford via Amien's St., Ranelagh & Mount Merrion - 40-70 mins depending on weather, traffic and fitness.

    Car: 60-90 mins or longer

Get the Dart to Blackrock and 114 feeder bus to Sandyford, not sure about the Dart time but the bus would be about 30-45 mins.

I live in Sandyford and have to cycle out to Coolock (through Fairview) every month or so, takes me about 45 mins and the return journey about 55 mins.
