Who's going up to this show? Is it worth travelling from Cork to see it?

And where is the City West Hotel?? (if anybody says "west of the city"...) Sounds like a fun place to spend a Sunday.

Its off the NAAS {Cork} road at Saggart before Rathcoole not too far from M50

Last time I went to it, it wasn't really a show even though the ads said it was .There was only room for the sale cars and others were turned away.
    I was there from 12pm till 1230pm. :)
It may be different this time.

I think where the general public are getting confused is the use of the word "SHOW" on there road signs. As displayed in West Dublin.

I went to the sale today.

I'd reckon c.200 cars were on display.
    Most (all?!) seemed very overpriced, e.g. €6000 for a Mk1 Escort !!! :D

Only a few cars seemed to be (what I would call) 'genuine' (i.e. not scruffy/crashed/botched repairs, etc) incl a 1974 Mercedes 220 Diesel, a 1982 Ferrari 308 GTB, and a mint 1974 Fiat 128 Saloon with 40k miles (haven't seen one of these in years. It looked to be genuinely "not restored" as the owner stated on his window details).

There was a sad looking '81 DeLorean there also. One side was almost full of dents and scrapes, the bonnet was offline, the grille panel was cracked......very sad to see one in this state :(

There was a large crowd in attendance (the organisers must have done v well at €5 a head just to view the cars !).

I only took one pic - of the Fiat 128. Too many people milling about to get decent pics of other cars.

    Silvera.
    (Ex-Panel Beater).

i have to agree, the cars where over priced :( there was a few good all round cars but there was a lot of scrap there also.i think ud be better spending ur money over seas as the prices where over the top, even for cars that needed some major work done

I thought it was a good show. Nice to see some of the cars that weren't on show or for sale at all, like that 6 series with 20" Alpina wheels, or the Volkswagen Toaureg V12, or the Hummer, or the RR Phantom, or the Bentley Arnage etc etc etc.

I liked the look of the 74 3.0 Granda Ghia coupe, and at 4 grand or less a bargain.
I had considered buying one of these a few months back from the UK, a 76 one,and three grand more. The motor sounded very nice in the 74' too. I wonder if he sold it.
I also noticed the 66 Mustang fastback for 12000. I think that's the same one that was advertised for 16 grand about 6 months back.It had a straight 6 so I didn't bite back then. I suppose that would be a factor for a lot of people looking for a Mustang, it not having a V8, because it looked in very good condition, not a minter , but very good.
I brought home a book and DVD, over priced but what the hey.

So was it a show as well this time.Or were the other cars just in the car park.

There was a little setaside car park for classics, actually there was some cars for sale there too.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought the cars were overpriced (5k for an MGB GT V8 which had paintwork which had crackled badly on the bonnet  )

The only car which caught my eye was the Alfa Duetto Spyder in the car park but it didn't have any price on it.

How much did the 82 308 go for? or what were they looking for it?
The 6 series Bmw on Alpinas, and the Hummer are always in here, uncle/cousin owns them, and their houses are up in citywest!
So they must have thrown them out on show. :)

Damn you and your relations with flashy cars. One of these days I'm gonna steal your identity, just you wait.

After last April sale out there I thought I'd give that one a miss seemed to be not much of a change.
That sounds like the mustang that was at the show in April. 12,000 is a bit more realistic as it needs new paint and a few bits.

The best time to buy is when someones got money or storage issues.
As I know having to let go a lovely mk1 mini for less than I paid, when moving house.

Which car are you referring to Camerobil, the Granada or Mustang. The Granada owner said he bought it in the UK a few months back. It certainly didn't look rotten.

5k for a MGB GT V8 !!! with 'just' a bad paint job would be excellent value for money, if it was only the paintwork, but I'm pretty sure there would have been more amiss with the car if the owner had priced the car at 5k only... They generally fetch anywhere between 8 and 13k !!!

decided not to go to this sale, as I was disappointed with the outcome with the same show back in the spring. I think most visitors would view the Sale as just another show, and while there is nothing wrong with that, but to claim that a lot of cars would have changed hands??? !
