    Hi,
Does anyone know a simple .avi editing programme? I just need to crop it down, rather than add effects and all that jazz.
    Thanks!

With FadeToBlack AVI Video Editor you can quickly and easily join, split, crop, trim, modify color, rotate, overlay / merge, blur your AVI video files, along with sequences of JPG and BMP images or photos from your digital camera. Because FadeToBlack AVI Video Editor is intuative, even a novice will find that trimming a single AVI or joining several AVI files can be done with just a few clicks of your mouse.
    Shareware.

Virtualdub will do the trick alright. Windows movie maker (included with XP as tba said above) may be suitable too, but as far as I know it won't let you output to divx/xvid, it wants to save everything as WMV. You can get it to pump out uncompressed video (tons of disk space required) and use something else to encode it with your favourite encoder.
