    Hi all,

I have the above laptop but the hard drive gave out on me last weekend. I am debating whether it is worthwhile getting a new laptop or replace the HD. But I have a couple of questions

    Question 1:

Will this HD work ok with my laptop (I have never replaced a HD in a laptop before), also it says its 2.5" but when I measured the old HD it measures at 2.75" (not sure if that matters)

    Question 2:

I bought the laptop second hand and got a Toshiba Recovery Cd with it, will it be possible to run the recovery cd on the new 40gb hard drive consideing the old one is only 15gb so that I can get windows XP back on it. There is a Win Xp product code on the bottom side of the laptop.

Just learnt I can get a Win XP or 2000 cd from work no problem, so question two isnt such a big deal, more interested in question 1 and if the HD is suitable for my latop.

    Cheers for any replies,

    Ciaran

Ya the harddrive should work fine. Their shouldn't be a problem with the size of the drive, if its says 2.5" than that drive should fit fine.

As for your other question that depends weather there is a partition on the laptops harddrive containing some of the restore information or not. Since the harddrive is dead you wont be able to find that out so just give it a try. Either way it doesnt matter as you have the licence on the bottom of the laptop.
