Does anyone know the name of those small green chromatic keyboards that we used to get in school years ago? You know the ones, the have like an octave odd range, and proper little black and white piano type keys and ya blew into them and they sounded God awful in a cute sorta way? Any ideas, as I need a recording of one for work, and it would kinda help if I knew what t'look for! :)

    Cheers in advance...

Clinic are a band who make frequent use of a melodica, so if you need an example in a song, check them out!

Dublin band 'The Brilliant Trees' used one too, think the song was called 'Home'
Plus, I can play 'Wooden Heart' on one :p

Doctor J, yer the man! Thank you mr. Sedaka, much appreciated, and I must say that your music has been wholly underappreciacted over the last few years!

This is my third play in in the last year that a director has wanted a melodica piece! Must be coming back into fashion folks! Be warned, be first in the posse, and grab yer melodica and tootle some toons!

Thanks again, and for the hints!

    Kompo...

I can't remember, Bernard Sumner definitely whips one out live. I'll have to check the DVD which songs he does it on.

Found this site through google which seems like the place to go for melodica info.

A&O Dubsite has a load of samples of instruments used in reggae, here's a direct link to an mp3 of a melodica.

Sounds like a harmonica, with maybe bigger reeds or something like that...
    Very funny sound I think!
