Possible to change cd drive to boot from?

It appears my dvd drive is dead, tried with different power connectors, still no sign of life. This causes a "secondary drive 0 not found" error while booting, as its set as the secondary master drive, and its second in my boot config list after the hard drive. I have a DVDRW drive physically beneath the dvd drive. is it possible to set this as the bootable CDROM drive in the boot options? or will it automatically look for the first drive physically? Basically want it to bypass looking for the first available physical CDROM drive, and really dont want to have to switch the drives around.
    thanks

Whu not just unplug the ide cable?Problem solved.Or maybe in your bios you can go "none" instead of auto for detection.
