It's not fair.. I hurt my thumb playing rugby and have just been told it's broken. Can't play my beloved guitars for four whole weeks. Anyone have any stories about injuries that stopped you playing? I wan't to know i'm not alone.

Actually a couple of years ago I found a broken metal stick (it was from one of those cheap brushes) and at the bit it had broke it was jagged and sharp, i had grab it and through it into a skip beside me as it went out of my hand it ripped my thumb right open, i could see right insid ...painful stuff...

It started to bleed intensely so I wrapped it in my "brand new" white top... I had a couple of of friends and relatives look at it and they advised me not to go to hospital cos it wasn't too bad... that was my biggest mistake... to this day the nerves in my right thumb are all messed up.

I was left four weeks (around), without my gutar aswell. A very long four weeks. Sorry :o

I can still play grand now but sometimes it can hurt if I play without a plectrum.

I was recently diagnosed with chonromalacia patella in my right knee... which is going to be a bit of a dampener on my drum playing for the next... ever.

Bummer dude. I've noticed sometimes my right knee gets very stiff when going from a sitting to standing position.

I played a wedding gig in Kinnity Castle recently and after a 2 hour set (without break!) my right knee was 'locked' when I got up from the drum stool and I was hobbling around for a while.

Do you play heel up or down?

    Holy crackers.

Just goes to show; you should live in a bubble and touch nothing but your guitars.

Crappy schmappy, it's got a fretboard and strings. That's all you'd need to keep you satisfied on holidays. I certainly would be happy with one..

Leave Argos guitars alone. I learned to play on one. After a few years it's still held it's tune and sounds fine to me. Bargain for 25 euros

    I played heel up.

Not sure what I'll be doing when I get back to it, I'll have to re-evaluate everything really. I reckon there's a good chance I'll be teaching myself to play kick with my left. I'll have to see what the physiotherapist has to say, and I still have to discuss my MRI results with my GP to assess the damage.
