Freesat as in the thing the BBC and ITV will do together?

yes seeing as there will be no encryption and anyone with a digital stb and within the footprint will be able to receive it

But dont expect it to be actively marketed by either the BBC or ITV down here. Unlike Sky, there won't be an Irish service, or local installers who install like Sky or special offers.

To get it down here, you would have to suss out independent installers and local TV shops. For any novice, all it will be is getting an independent installer to get an FTA reciever and put up a dish (if you dont have a Sky dish already). Don't expect free installs either.
