Probably Conor Lenihan, after all, he calls Turkish people kebabs so I assume he's as delighted to see inter-racial sex too.

How could someone disapprove of that statue? It's the single coolest thing I've seen in Dublin since, well, ever, really.

If the Phil Lynott statue and the Molly Malone statue had a kid, it would be quite good looking.

Indeed. A sort of Bronze Super race, if you will. But then they'd probably try exterminating us, and we all know how much hassle THAT leads to, don't we children?

I'd be too busy staring at their super-boobs to notice the extermination rifle.

Thats not true. No TD would say that.

    Has yer 'flatmate' any proof??

The 'kebab' thing is true enough. A TD said it to Joe Costello I think.

Yes it is 'true', or whatever that means.

My flatmate told me that it wasnt a TD it was actually the POPE, that referred to him as a mongrel, during a recent visit to LA LA LAND WHERE THE THREAD POSTER LIVES

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 229 ✭✭ExOffender

Have to say I know the OP's flatmate. catholicireland and dfitzer should, y'know, reserve judgement.

Oh, and catholicireland - 'true' in this context means 'factually accurate', FYI. ;)

I can understand people disaproving as Phil was a bit of a druggie, but sure that was the rock'n'roll lifestyle. I'd agree though, it is definetly the cooling thing in Dublin. Ever.

Lets have more statues erected of great musicians, instead of letting Bertie compensate for something. ;)
I say we tear down the spire and build a monument to MANOWAR!!!

While I'd be in favour of a "Dirty great Viking feasting hall" I think we shouldn't stop there.

I suggest we also erect a statue of Richard Dean Anderson, in his glory days of MacGyver. Of course.

And let's not forget Jessica Fletcher...

i don't see anyone complaining when people celebrate Brendan Behan in spite of his many faults. i think the lynott statue is cool - it's celebrating his music :)

Hmmm I doubt seriously any TD said that if they did the press would be all over it !! If FF or the PD's scratch their nuts the wrong way (and I am including Harney here!) they would be hung by the media.

As for the statue it is absolutely the coolest thing in ages, walked past it last night and as usual there were piles of tourist getting their piccies taken (with a pack of drunken rockers in Bruxelles as the background).

As for Bono, I reckon we should just cover him with molten bronze. It would sort the problem of him opening his trap all the time :D

No, never! All the politicians in our government are lovely, kind, care about the national community, love everyone, want to make a difference, get awful pay, are totally self-less etc etc. Take the rose-tinted specs off one second.

There are already enough Bono statues all over the country, indoor and outdoor. They look like this.

No didn't make it up, was actually told as I said, why on earth would I make that up? anyway maybe the flatmate was lied to. Didn't have enough time to google and search through the results last night so thought I'd throw a thread up.

This is pretty frightening all the same

Take off the 'rose-tinted specs'?? Lets see...
What is basicially being said here is that a TD said a very racist remark, who said it? Dont know. Where did this person hear it? Dont know. Who is this person? Dont know.
This remark would be bigger then the kabab remark and we know how much that got blow up by the Irish media. Dont you think we would have heard it in the media by now if a TD made it??
This thread is based on nothing. I could start a similar thread saying a friend told me that a TD was a killer and offer no proof.

I clearly said I heard it from my flatmate. I'm sorry I wasted a few minutes of your life as it turns out he heard something that's probably not true.

You sound really angry, be assured you won't be charged for reading this thread. I was just passing on what I heard, what happens to you when you're faced with actual problems?
