    hi.

i want to set up a small server near my tv, and connect my laptop to my tv. now, its an old laptop so no tv out in it.

i want to be able to get a usb tv tuner card that can receive tv channels from the antenna, be able to get that on my laptop (so i can record some things) and also have a tv option in that tuner card (like it has a branch that goes to the tv as well).

has anybody ever heard of something like that (preferably not horrendously expensive....

The TV Tuner card is input only (i.e. usually the only output is to the laptop via USB). I haven't heard of any models that allow output to a TV.

An alternative woud be to use a TV that has RBG inputs (a lot of newer TV's have these).

how would you connect signal to the rbg if there is no output from the box towards the tv?

Erm, I'm not sure I follow you.

The setup would be TV Card->USB->Laptop->TV.

What I am suggesting above is that if you have a newer TV, you could use the RGB output (i.e. the monitor output) on your laptop, to connect to the TV.

If the TV doesn't have the RGB port, you would need some kind of RGB to PAL convertor.

Sorry, I am confusing you. I am referring to the VGA port as the RGB port. So it would be VGA->TV.
