Am just wundering does anyone know where i can get my hands on new Raptor 36gig h.drives
Komplett used to sell em but have decided to remove them from their stock sadly.......i havent found any other place that sells em (must be in ireland!)

As you can see from my core components the O.S. hard drive is the part holding me back and i was supposed to have 2 new raptors churning it out on raid and not the stupid slow 160g barracuda :p

    Athlon 64 X2 4400 cpu
    1 gig PC4400 ram
    sapphire X850xt pe
    OS h.drive Seagate Barracuda 160gig
...Various other parts including modded chieftec case :p
If anyone knows a place that sells em your help would be appreciated ;)

You might want to think about the 74gb Raptor instead of 2x36gb. The 74gb Edition performs a little better and is quieter. I have one and its performance is flawless, i dont think raiding raptors offers any advantage or very little from what ive read.

I've a pair of 74giggers in R0. Great performers. To be honest though, I've had 'em about a year now, and good as they are, if I hadn't held them over from one system to another, and I had to buy today, I'd be more inclined to get a pair of 16MB cache NCQ drives instead. The newer drives like Maxtor's Diamondmax 10 series, with 16MB cache on 250GB+ sized drives combined with native command queueing capabilty on motherboards that support NCQ are matching the Raptors now, and give a lot more storage for your buck. I just kept the Raptors for their performance as the operating system drives in my main machine because I've got around 1.5TB spread between 3 computers anyway, so I didn't urgently need more storage.

Thats a good point about the space but i do not need more space at the moment cause i have a round 1 Tbit between 2 pcs so the space aint needed.
On the point on the 74gigs i was tempted but the fact that i want them running on raid and they are almost €180 euro each i dont have the funds to get two of them....considering i only need them for a operating sytem drive instead of storage 36gig is ok to me.

Thanks for those points they both were well worth considering :)

So the 74gig Raptor is a better performer than 2 x 36gig raptors on raid?
Just wundering cause they would be the choices dat i'd buy for O.S drive.

My choice wud be raptors cause my experience wid single Sata drives as os aint dat great compared to IDE really.......(went trough 3 sata drives all different brands and none have done the job for me :p )
