I use thunderbird. Though admittently Mr. EduCat had it set up from last year.

I'll upload some pics soon enough. I assume it's just the smtp etc. info you'd need?

Oh, and I rarely use mymail, you can divert your mail to gmail (though not advised to do by ISS so for long periods...or something...)

    Set Imap server as mail.tcd.ie

make sure you set it for Imap secure,

you can use the tcd smtp server if accessing it from the colleg network, in whcih case it's mail.tcd.ie also, if you're outside college use the smtp server of your ISP

You can also set it up as a standard POP server (although if you're going to want to access your mail elsewhere, make sure to tick 'leave a copy of mail on server'). Obviously, as with POP mail generally, your folder structure isn't the same for both mymail access and Thunderbird (it would be with IMAP).

    protocol: POP
    incoming server: mail.tcd.ie
outgoing server (if within Trinity network): smtp.tcd.ie

make sure to select secure (SSL) connection.

(And yes, one of the first things I did when I started work last summer was to move from IE/Outlook to Firefox/Thunderbird....)

What port does the smtp server need to be set to? I can't seem to get my outgoing mails to send from within the college network. Tried sending them via the gmail smtp server too but no luck.
