w98 and no sound

a friend got a new comp yesterday and there is no cd audio coming from the cd drive to teh soundcard.
the cd drive works and plays sound in games, and the cd plays sound through the headphone jack at teh front of the player

but NO SOUND

if the cd plays tracks from audio cds in games then its connected to the sound card properly.
check your cd volume in volume control

check multimedia that your audio is coming through your prefered sound device

Heh, you look that up in infotips WWM?
The sound in the game(s) could be just a .wav that was pre-loaded off the CD...
Open the case and check that their is a cable going from the back of the CDROM drive to the soundcard...refer to your soundcards' manual for the correct socket for this cable.
