Trust me mate if your blocked , dont try and get around it because it will only lead to trouble trust me. Colleger computer service techs hate that sort of thing I cant stress how unadvisable it is.

There is bound to be a restriction in any college with regards downloading torrents and using P2P clients. So dont even go there if thats what your on about. Your college will generally have port 80,21 open and two others (i think so anyway).

But you should be able to download programs and such, i doubt thats restricteted

and maybe think about applying for some jobs in mcdonalds, cos if you get caught (and you will) theyn thet's the only place you'll be able to get a job after being kicked out of college.

Suggest you write to your TD about the high levels of fines for illegal downloading or about how copyright extends to 70 years after the artists death (or longer if not published before their death)

Or if you had a house and not just a mortgague you could ask the IT people to let you download stuff, provided you sign a waiver that you'll sell the house to pay any fine the college might face as a result of your actions.

or...or you could just use a http tunnel and download all the stuff through port 80,although it will be a bit slow since ur using a tunnel..

    dude.
Any college worth its salt will have blacklisted, (and proactively blacklist) all the http tunnels' IP's they find.

Scotty, you go to college to learn stuff, not to waste the college's bandwith. You have no inalienable right to use their wires/radio signal to download your music.

My college has nothing open except, for historical reasons, 110. Web goes through a proxy. Maths network is more liberal, CS network used to be.

Use google to search for the indexes of sites. Alot of strangely enough, Russian sites, have stores and stores of mp3 music, thats how I got mine. I used to download the odd thing, but I got so addicted I ended up missing lectures and doing crap during the year. I got Half Life 2 in 30 minutes. After that, I didn't show up for a few days.

My advice. Don't get sucked in. People laugh but Downloading is an addiction :p
