Decided to go down as I'd planned on going to the Fitz, but they had the big game on, so went to the Merrion for the freeroll. After hearing about the Sit n go tourneys, i decided to dump my chips from the freeroll and move to those tables instead. By the end of the night, i'd played 5; won two, came second in two and got knocked out 3rd hand in the 5th, when all in with Pocket Qs, Vs 66, KK and AJ (AJ took the pot with trips on the flop).

All in all i have to say the standard was pretty low. There were maybe one or two players that were difficult reads and everyone elses game could be read like an open book. I couldn't help but laugh as I heard person after person dropping various poker terms and trying to seemingly show off that they were down with the lingo as it were. If only they could've walked the walk too.

Another thing that struck me staright away was the number of complete knobs that take part in these things too. There was one guy on my table 3 times who was a mediocre player, a Merrion regular and didn't shut up for one second during the game. He was loud and offensive and a general wreck the head. I didn't let him put me off my game and was hoping that somebody would just knock him out and throw him outside(didn't happen unfortunately).

At the end, I was happy with my first casino experience in terms of my play. To be honest i thought the merrion was a kip. It was far too cramped. 11 people in a sit n go is just ridiculous. Even ten is too cramped for my liking. alot of the regulars were idiots and there was a lot of things that I would see as table etiquette not being adhered to(saying raise before putting chips in, dodgy payouts when sidepots were involved etc.)

Next time i think i'll wait to try out the Fitz as I heard the setup there is a tad better.

    Ian

What time did they start there? And what time did you finish up?

The standard for the Merrion STT is usually pretty poor although occasionally you will find yourself at a table with 4-6 decent players.Personally I never
complain about a players lack of ability as long as I get a decent shot at his
    money. :)

merrion sit n go's are similar enough quality to any freeroll you'll find. It's a tenner. no biggy if you lose. The cash games and higher buy in games are a lot more organised. But I wouldn't call it a kip. Nice tables, decent cards...fair enough they could change the chips...

It is freeroll night on Thursday so generally you will get the freeroll players playing the STTs. The standard therefore will be mixed,as some of the freeroll players are very good but the vast majority of the regulars will not be playing that night.

For the best experience - I would recommend
Fitz on Mon ($100), Merrion on Tues ($100) or Wed($50+1 rebuy), Fitz on Fri($50+1 rebuy).
