How do I check the power supply?

    Hi. Im getting a new graphics card put Ive been told to check the power supply before buying. How do you go about this, working in Windows XP?

    u might have got a spec sheet that might have come with ur computer saying the make (probably OEM if it wasnt a high spec when u bought it) and wattage
    but u can always just open up the case and have a look :) normaly wat u need to no will b on a sticker on the side facing u straight away, just look for the peak load

    Yeah, you'll need to open the case to have a look.

    Check the spec for the 12 volt rail.

    Had you posted the model of your old and new graphics cards and your computer someone might have an idea of how much more POWER the new card will take.

    The PSU will have a Wattage on it like 300W - the cheaper brands are very optimistic about where as the better ones will more realistic
