You won't really know until they give you it in writing but they offer a guide @ https://www.ros.ie/VRTEnquiryServlet/showVRT

I imported my car last year, if I remember correctly the duty was around 6.5%. Based on the invoice you get from the seller, they then also hit you for VAT @21% on the total including the duty :D all payable before they relese the car! the other hidden charges are they dock fees this end, about €300 and if you do not get the container out of the docks within a certain time, the start charging you a daily storeage fee!

Excellent, thanks for posting. Do you have to notify them beforehand or do you just turn up when your container is unloaded? Do you know if this rate of duty is much the same across the EU?

Duty is ten percent of invoice price

Vat is 21 percent of invoice price+duty+shipping price
