Something I never saw in Croke Park before

I saw something in Croke Park that I never saw before, last Sunday. I've often seen the men in black, though refs now where some brighter attire, but on Sunday I saw my first ever black referee. For quite a number of years now it has been a common practice during the half time breaks to have the mini-sevens.

As you'll all know these are small games for the children, organised through the schools. The referees are normally children too now, as part of a programme to teach them too. As Ireland has changed it is now common to see some foreign nationals among the team. But on Sunday, for the first time that I've seen, one of the referees was a young black boy. It was good to see. His name was Bambi and he got a mention in the programme. The times they are a changin'.

Saw a young foreign national walking to school with a hurley one morning. Won't be long until we have a Taribo West playing up front for Kilkenny!

Well we have Jayo and the O'hAilpíns already. In years to come as the current young generation of foreign nationals come through, we could have some very strong and athletic Hurling and Football teams.

    Obu Obu anyone?

"The first man to put the ball over the bar in a spear like movement. His father didn't eat until he was 25!"

(Des Bishop routine if you are wondering)

If there's one man I detest, its Des Bishop!

Ah how can you detest someone who makes lots of people laugh? I really enjoyed seeing him a couple of weeks back.
