    Freeroll at 4pm

    €270 game afterwards

the last thursday of every month is probably the most popular game in Dublin. €250+€20 in the fitz. All the bigwigs turn up for it.
There is a freroll starts at 4pm, with €15 rebuys(i think).

The one thing I'm not sure of isif its a rebuy or a freezeout...but someone else will know.

So its a €250 buy-in tonight? Is there usually a freeroll in the evening?

The main tournament tonight is the €250 + €20 freezeout which starts at 8.30pm.

There is a freeroll tournament at 4.30pm. In this tournament, your initial chip allotment is free and you may rebuy additional chip allotments for €15 a time if you go bust during the rebuy period. In this freeroll tournament, the prizes awarded are tickets to the €250 + €20 freezeout.

There are also single table satellites for tickets to the €250 + €20 freezeout. These single table satellites come in 2 flavors - €27 + €3 or (my favorite) one hand of blind Omaha.

    Hope this helps.

And when are the single table satellites on? Today as well? I'd like to try one of those

Also normally on Thursdays what are the prizes for the €10 freeroll?

Every other thursday there's a free entry satellite with the prizes being tickets to the 270 game on the last thursday of each month.

Anyone hear the results to this?

I came 14th - never had chips the whole night and had 2k to come back to after the break.
Felt it turned into a bit of a crapshoot midway through due to the 20 minute clock. At least the blinds were frozen for a while when we got down to the last 3 tables.

I agree with you there Mark, especially when 5/1 and 8/15 seem to come out of nowhere, and all of a sudden that 12k stack you've been building steadily all night is under threat! I was on you're right for one hand, was moved to you're table with 4 tables left and promptly did my stack on the first hand.

Yeah, I remember alright - that guy was defending his blinds religiously - your only option there was to go all-in and hope that it is enough to make him fold.

I tried to rob his blinds with K7 (26k all-in, blinds 2k-4k)on the second last table table and he called for most of his chips with A7 to knock me out!

Did you make the money by coming 14th?

What the hell hapened to the 25 minute clock?

Well done on 14th anyway, you seem to be on a bit of a roll recently!

Don't know what happened to the 25 minutes - It does change the game considerably - we were only getting in just over 1 round per level.

For that amount of money - it should be a 30 minute clock at least - maybe running the game on a saturday would be a better idea so that they could start earlier.

If they keep it at a 20 minute clock then I'll seriously consider not playing this again (which would be a pity because it's my favourite tournament). I understand that the game goes on 'til 5 or 6 in the morning these days (with 25 minute levels), but with the money at stake if you're still playing at that time, nobody really cares.

Shortstack, I hope you're taking this on board for your 250 freezeout. :)

Well done mark a tenatious show of grit, chutzpah & determination. As your 2k grew, so my stack shrunk almost in equal measure, thus i hold you partly responsible for my untimely exit. How you can sleep at night baffles me.

    20 min clock

I always thought the 25 was a touch tight but 20 mins is really poor for a 270 entry. Good point about moving it to a Saturday. It would make for a much better game.

It's a shame to turn it into an all-in fest, especially as so many top class players play it. I wouldn't pay into it again until it at least goes back to the 25 mins.

Did anyone make a fuss about it last night?

I hate to rain on people's parades but the 270 game never had a 25 minute clock. In all the time I worked in the club it always had a 20 minute clock. The only tournaments that had 25 or 30 minute clocks were during the festivals, such as the €500 and €385 double chance tournaments and the €100 rebuy events.

The end of month 270 game has never had a full 25 minute clock.
however, I really really really think it should.
At the very least 25 minutes, and If it's got to be a two day event because of that so be it.

i agree (for once ;) last night it started at 5 to 9. thats 25 mins that could be spread out over 5 blinds. but then Luke has good judgement about freezing the blinds and it would take a better man than me to argue his decisions (and there are no better baby).

Are you really sure about this, Marq? I've played it about 10 times and I'm convinced it was always a 25 minute clock. The first couple that were run, back in Summer 2003, definately had a 25 minute clock.

Did I imagine it or can anyone else remember there being 25 minute levels?

    I'm sure. I wouldn't have posted it if I wasn't sure.

In 2003 the tournament ended at about 03:30 a.m. at about 21:30. The field was about 50 to 60. Don't know what the blinds were but it seems quicker now.

Luke does make good judgements about the blinds when it's needed but a good structure shouldn't require blinds to be freezed.
