Having a problem with the PC. Im running windows XP SP2 and the other day the computer locked up on me. When th computer starts up the welcome screen shows then it goes to the login screen. When you press the OK to login it goes to the desktop and then logs straight out again. Originally i had the login function disabled, also if i boot into safe mode and try to login as administrator the same thing happens. Anyone heard of anything like this

get your system to do a chkdsk, done simply by entering the windows xp setup and pressing R at the prompt, you will be required to log into your installation via dos.

type chkdsk /f it should zoom down it quiet fast, it might pick up some problems in your profile which is sometimes related to this problem, basically the computer trys to load a setting for you cant find it, and logs you back out.

the chkdsk may fix it, else you could be looking at a repair.
