    Hey guys,

I posted this in motors too but i thought i got a bargain so i put it here too!

i'm just in the process of getting my insurance and AXA are by far the best i have found.

I was with quinn and AXA saved me €290 AXA fully comp vs Quinn 3rd pty!!

And also for AXA for 3rd Pty they quoted me €500 less than Quinn and €300 less than anyone else!!

    I'm chuffed.

I know this may not apply to everyone

(i'm 24 with a prov licence and 1 yr NCB)

    Mik

So how much did you actually pay then, and what do you drive?

    good question

did AXA save you €290 for 3 grand for example or was it €290 from 2 grand

    I drive an opel astra.

Quinn quote €1232 (3dr pty) AXA €942 fully comp.

So €290 from €1232 is a 24% saving and comparing fully comp to 3rd pty

A bargin and a pretty good saving in my books!!

there's not much point putting car insurance stuff in the bargains forum - its different for everyone and most of the companies just pluck a figure out of the air.

If you are male try putting a female driver on your policy as a named driver. Most of the time you actually get it cheaper.

Points taken about this not being suitable for everyone.
but hardly all threads in this forum are suitable for all.

I personally thought AXA were expensive - till i called them

I saved quite a bit of money with this, just hoping a few others could too.

Any day I save €500 ish is a good one :D

Did you try Tesco? I got by far the cheapest quote from them. You'll have to do Ignition though, which is well worth it as it will cop you on when you think you're the best driver on the roads and may save your loyfe.

I got my quote for fully comp to €889 3rd to €697! - my ma is insured with them.

My excess is €126 - not sure about rollback
I have open drive, windscreen cover and breakdown assistance.
    car replacement for 35 days
    personal items insurance
and if car is under 12 months and a w/off they pay for a repalcement

all in all a good deal :D

Slightly OT, but i Lived in southampton for 1 year, and a friend from here moved there for the same year.

He brought his irish registered car, and insured it there (under irish plates, as he was staying under 1 year, it just needed a MOT cert) and insured it with Axa there for €450 less than he had with AXA here. This was inner city as opposed to countryside in Ireland.

So none of them are doing us any favours!

I switched from quinn to hibernian last year(400 cheaper). Came up for renewal this month at 1300 full comp(100 less then last year). rang around and quinn gave quote of 650 full comp. So now i've switched back.

yeah i don't get the free 24 hour roadside assistance but i drive long distance maybe 6 times a year.

I'm with AXA and so was the person who ploughed into the back of my car!
AXA have treated me like absolute ****! And it wasn't me who caused the accident. Their claims depaertment are nothing short of rude, i could go on and on about them. Make sure that the AXA quote covers you for a rental car if you have an accident. Check every last thing on the policy and make sure you really are covered. I bet Quinn are giving you extras.

This a fact, my ins is cheap but even when I put my wife on it it gets cheaper ;)

(not going to say how much cos I feal sorry for any one that gets these quotes for the first few years)

Yes even now with my insurance at around the 500 mark I save around 20euro by having the wife on it.

Anecdotal evidence has AXA offering cheap rates if its your first time with them and then they seem to be dearer at renewals and dont even try to match other quotes.

I always ring Quinn for the laugh - for the past three years they have been quoting in the 1600-2200 range...

PS. If only they knew her they would have put it up! :D

Its funny, Every year i get better quotes from different insurers, Hibernian one year, then Axa then Quinn... when i renew next time it will probably be someone else :D

    Yep,
defo best shopping around, a lot of insurers are keen to get you for the first time - thinking you will not bother changing company therefore the higher renewal rates.

Quinn were happily going to keep taking money from my account without any authorisation - they thought i would just accept the new quote!!

one to look out for
