Heres a story about Penny sweets that i know of. My friend used to go into the shop near my school every lunchtime and ask for exactly 67 penny sweets! The girl behind the counter got really pissed off and asked him to stop!

I went into a shop before to buy 300 penny sweets and the woman behind the counter said - Go To Hell !!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,119 ✭✭✭Volvagia

I bought 1300 assorted penny sweets once for a school guess-the-sweets-in-the-jar thing. There were 3 people filling bags for 10 minutes.

Favourite would have to be fizzy cola bottles.
On a related note, Apple Drops own my trouser. I bought a pound of them once (2 quid's worth back in them days) and the fu<king bag split

Way back when I was in 1st year secoundry school there was a shop (now closed :( ) that specialised in penny sweets apple drops oooh god yea, these little cola things like buttons, fried eggs, and the ultimate COLA bottles.

Being a bit older now I go for the bigger 10p cola bottles - suger coated :D

I love apple drops. The only problem I found with them was that if you got them in a paper bag they eventually just stuck to the bag. I ended up eating them with bits of paper bag stuck to them.

Oh and pear drops own aswell!

Does anybody remember Blops or Blobs - they were 1p chewing gum pieces ?

Fruit Salads were quite good too ...

I remember also shops used to start putting bags together of 1p sweets costing 10p and 20p - lucky dip type stuff.

    No Contest - Milk Bottles!

I don't think they used to sell them in Ireland, and I still don't think corner shops do them. But you can big packs in tescos.

    I endorse this product :)
