    Whistler/Blackcomb

Main reason being it is ~2 hours from my front door. And the road is being upgraded so it's getting closer all the time :)

I've not been to that many different resorts (and all I have been to are in Austria) but I prefer different ones depending on why i'm there. If i'm alone, with a small group and/or just there for a daytrip then i'm there just for the skiing and I want a resort with challenging runs that are still safe enough to get some decent speed up on.

If i'm away with friends for the weekend or a longer spell i'm still interested in good skiing but only if all of the group i'm with are capable of skiing it too (that goes for me too :)) but i'm also interested in what sort of party atmosphere is in the resort and on the slopes.

As for my favourite resorts: Nassfeld is good with challenging runs. Party atmosphere is average. Can be ok on the slopes but at night it's quite boring.

Flachau is brilliant for skiing early or late in the season but there are too many there in peak season for it to be enjoyable. Slopes are nicely varied with some challenging reds (if the piste is empty enough). Partying on the slopes is quite good but nightlife is crap.

Söll is quite good. Pistes are super and pretty much all types exist in good amounts. Partying on the mountain is ok and nightlife is very good. Apres ski is a bit dissapointing as it's more like an irish/english bar atmosphere than the more traditional apres ski.

They'd be my 3 favourites atm but hopefully that'll change in the next few months :)

    Others worth a mention:
Schladming/Haus etc: Pistes are good but too many t-bars. Nightlife is crap. Dachstein West: quite good but too many t-bars. Some nice black slopes :) Quite flat in places too (really annoying if on a snowboard). They have a super tobogoning run too but it's a little wide in places :)
St. Johann/Alpendorf: Same area as Flachau but slopes aren't connected. Super pistes and quite challenging. Nightlife more traditional austrian. Apres ski the same. Shame i've only had one weekend there.

Morzine in France because it's an actual town that was there long before skiing became popular (I'm not the biggest fan of purpose built ski resorts). Also it's in the middle of Portes de Soleil which gives you access to 650km of ski runs.

I haven't been to too many yet, but Loon Mtn. in New Hampshire has been without a doubt my favourite so far
