This is the closet forum I can find....

Does anyone know if its possible to prevent your email signature being accidentally forward by one of your receipients?

E.g. You send a mail to ten people, all of who you know and trust.

One of the ten then forwards said mail to their mailing list, and so forth...next thing your contact details are around the world for sport. Kind of a six degrees of separation thing going on. And next thing you're in spam hell :(

Personally I always delete the message history before I send on a mail, but as anyone who works in, say, an office environment knows, most people just forward to all contacts and you can see the electronic trail if you scroll down the message.

Just wondering if its possible to configure your sig so that only the original receipients get it, and if they forward your mail it is not contained in the message.

    Cheers

    bru

    Nope.

Your signature is in the body of the email not the header so will be forwarded on.

The best you can do is IF YOU HAD NO SIGNATURE to make sure your "friendly name" is different to your email address so they don't get your email address.

As the Capt'n says, nope. But also you should remember that even if you remove your details from your sig, your email address may still be contained in the forwarded email headers anyway. Email is not a secure communications protocol, never has and never will be.

Use an anonymous email account for none work related stuff. Then when it gets spammed just abandon it and get another.
