Driveway query

    I live in a newly built house, and the site is on a slope.
    For the drive, I'm going to put down some 2down. A friend of mine (who I've no reason to doubt) advised I should roll out a sheet of therum (sp) (plastic membrane type thing) and spread the stone on top of it. This should help prevent the stone being washed away. Has anyone any experience of this?

    Just looking for a second opinion really.
