The upcoming Sky Three channel will replace Sky Travel it has been confirmed.

The general entertainment station, which plans to launch towards the end of October, will offer a lineup of Sky One shows on a delay of between 12 to 18 months.

Sky Three's programming will include the free TV premiere of the third season of 24, along with Cold Case and Paul McKenna's I Can Change Your Life. Original lifestyle commissions and travel documentaries are also expected to feature.

    (From DS.)

Channel will be FTA like ITV 3 (True or False?)

    Comments please

Im under the impression that the channel will be FTV like ITV1 and ITV2 in the UK but it may be available to Irish Sky subsribers. all in all i think your gonna need a card in a digibox for it

I was under the impression that this will be FTA. The surprise success of the FTA/ Freeview has been BBC3 which is hurting sky by taking viewers away from sky1 which is no bad thing.

You would be correct, it will be pay on Sky, but will be available in place of Sky Travel on Freeview.

Sky Travel's 4 channels will continue to run on Sky though. It will only take Travels place, it won't shut down to become Sky Three, ala Granada Plus and ITV 3.

    Paddy :D
