We all know about god and jesus etc. from what we have read in the bible, and if there was no bible written most of us would not know of the existence of God and jesus etc so how did people before the birth of christ know about God, did they just beleive there was a God without witnessing any miracles or seeing any visions, where did their beleif come from, was it just blind faith or was there a book written before the bible and if so where is it?
How did God come to exist in the minds and hearts of people before the birth of christ.
    Anyone know?

People just tend to believe that there is some creator to the universe cause it seems to complicated to be just random. People end up creating gods. Everyone does it, cause there's no other clear explanation.

    That's what I think anyway.

I presume you mean what were Jews & Christians before the Old and New Testaments were written?

[As in; Hindus were before the bible, and are still, Hindus.]

To address the question - doesn't the bible talk about worshipping false gods?
Golden calves and whatnot? There's always been multiple gods. Take your pick.

Exactly, if you go back to 3000BC to the time of the Sumerians , they worshipped the sun as a God, probably because of it's power and because they couldn't understand it - so to them, it must be a higher being.

To them, the sun rising everyday was a miracle.

Christianity also shares a lot of characteristics of the Greek and Roman religions (which themselves are also very similar). If you look hard enough, I'm sure clear parallels can be drawn between Christian fables and Roman & Greek fables.

Before Christ was born there were prophets like Moses and Abraham who preached the word... It's all in the Old Testament.

Also around the time of the birth of Christ it was common to recount everything by word of mouth so books weren't necessary as such. The disciples and other believers going out preaching and later st. Paul's letters spread the word of God before the bible was ever printed as such

I was just wondering how the people who knew about God first came to know about him, I mean what went on leading up to the birth of christ, why are we never taught about those times and just the times of jesus etc.

Possibly a desire to understand and explain the world.
