    Hey all,

I posted here a while back about getting a Speaker/Sound System. After much thought, I got the Trust T7900 of Komplett. Only got time to set it up last night, all speakers connected to the base unit etc. but iv a slight problem:

The connection from the base unit to the TV/DVD has no where to go. I cant plug it into any of the slots on the back of the TV/DVD Player as they dont fit nor do the colours of the cable match the colours on the "ports" on the back of the TV.

I cant find my thread "Sound System / Speakers Recommendation" as Search is disabled, but I believe someone said I needed an encoder - is this my problem - I dont have this encoder (Im not to sure if I do :o)? (I never got a final answrer on my thread to what it was or if I had it :P)

    What should I do?

Thanks for your help on this matter once again :D

PC sound cards have different connectors to any AV equip.
Should be a converter about for it, theres always a converter...

Not play the DVD in your PC and use tv out for picture?

As tvs normally dont have 5/7.1 out on them Sky+ is the only tv thing i know off that does.

LOL. Ya sorry a Creative not a Trust (was a product I was interested in before).

Id like to use the Sound System for the TV and a small bit for the PC. Any else know for sure where I can get adapters? :)

Not to sure which I need (decoder or encoder or adapter?!).

    Thanks again

Speakers just play the sounds so to get 7. on the pc the sound card decodes the signal and sends it out to relevant speaker. For the TV somfin similiar is req to decode the signal.

If you buy the box above make sure your dvd/tv has optical output for the speakers.

    Im officaly lost :/

So basicaly, my TV doesnt have the right connections to hook up the speakers I got, but the PC does as the sound card has a decoder? So I need to get a decoder for the TV where I can connect the system to it (I presume the decoder somehow connects to the TV?). My DVD and TV has an optical output alright, is that how it connects (the decoder?)...

The PC and TV are in two seperate rooms and its messy enough with the wires from the speakers! I just want them to play the audio from the TV through the speakers I got.

well what i did (and why people don't do this themselves I don't know...) was to go to the creative site and find the manual for your speakers and now for the decoder

    Decoder manual is here.

If you read it you will see you have 3 options of connecting your dvd/tv/hi-fi etc. Analog, Optical and Co-axial.

    So pick one! :p

I looked but that it was a tad bit pricy! My dads gonna call a friend who provides this stuff to see if he can go cheaper.

Does it matter what decoder I get?
