Anybody know what the story is with dead pixels/ stuck pixels.

Today i went out to It-Direct and brought a brand new LG L19152 19" Tft paid the guts of 340E for it.

So i carried it back to the dart station got home plugged it in and guess what i have a nice green pixel smack bang in the middle of the screen.

Anybody know what the return policy is with these?

Do i have to bring it back to it direct or call LG for a replacement.

I wouldn't really mind if it was on right handside in a corner somewhere but smack in the center don't want the bloody thing now :(

Anybody know if LG have a zero dead pixel return policy?

It-Direct if youre reading this please reply as i know you a regular on boards :D

    Cheers
    Kevin

Bring it back to them. Often high-street reatailers go beyond the manufacturers warranty and could replace it for you free of charge.

I've heard of several stores doing this. That's the benefit of buying from a bricks 'n' mortar store.

by law whomever you purchase a product from (if advertised as new - not used) must work with the guarantor, IE: in effect, when you have a guarantee with a company like LG, the store is responsable to fulfill the guarantee.

bring it back, complain, get a replacement... simple as that.

It depends on the Type of the TFT sold. If it is a Class 1 then it must have 0 dead pixels. If it is Type 2 then it is allowed a certain number of dead pixels/cluster.

If you complain enough, sometimes they dont care. Not that I'd condone that sort of thing

    hehe

Yep, that's the thing. A single dead pixel isn't necessarily a fault in the LCD so you may be stuck with it - always been one of my biggest fears when getting a new LCD monitor that.

Hmm how exactly would you find out what class it is?

Fabritzo have you had problem returning stuff with them?

Cheers for the info lads, i wont be able to get into town till sat though working late for the rest of the week:(

Went over the Lg warranty statement nothing regarding pixels in it...
Check the lg site same thing nothing regarding the warranty.

The Strange thing is when the display is white you can't see only viewable on black backgrounds and blue ones.

Looks like a stuck pixel instead, Might have a go at massaging it for a while.

    Otherwise back to the shop...........

Usually it depends how many, and in what location.

bring it back and check the next one in the store before you go...

theres a fair chance the one they gave you has been brought back b4 and they're trying to offload it on you... bring it back, demand replacement

Try out the "flashing movie" thingy that PSP owners are using...

    http://www.psp-vault.com/Article168.psp

Apparently it works on TFT's too.

If you can't go back til Saturday ring them to let them know that you are coming back and why.
It's always better to let them know that it was noticed immediately, and not a couple of days later - not that it should make a difference.
I'm saying this from dealings with other stores, and not specifically IT Direct.

Just to give you all a update this morning i called itdirect up and explained the story with the tft.

Asked the guy if possible to get a replacement he had to double check a couple of mins later he got back and said all i have to do is bring it in and they will exchange it.

So i went back into down down to itdirect within 5 mins had a new one, no hassle and stupid questions.

Got back home hooked it up and no dead pixels :D

    Top marks for itdirect.
