Broadband and Linux (Debian)

Hi, I'm sussing out getting a broadband connection at home. I'm running Debian Sarge (3.1). Does anyone know if there are any issues with Linux and the boardband setups supplied by the major companies, paricularly with regard to the modems they send? Should I just be able to plug it into my network card and go from there? I'm thinking of using Digiweb's basic 1MB/s 40:1 DSL service (I don't need much, I can download ISOs at work).

    Thanks

As long as the modem has an ethernet connection, you'll be fine - most of them do these days.

should be no problem, especially if you're using a hardware firewall/router (advisable from a security point of view).

aye, I'm pretty impressed with someof those hardware routers, from a security point of view, they seem pretty solid, even the cheap lynksys ones. They do struggle though, with some connection issues, like running ****loads of toorents, they can bomb out sometimes, but considering how cheap they are, they are still pretty good.
