I have a very simple question. Does WIT have it's own radio station? If so is it any good?

It used to....VibeFM....107.4fm if I remeber correctly. Think I heard it once or twice and it was fairly crap.

I dont know if the society still running it exists, but tomorrow is the Clubs & Socs open day on the College St campus I think so you coulod pop down and see is there any sign of it.

it was 97.4fm and yes it was very very crap.
As far as I know they had a licence problem. I think it might have something to do with the Licence Vibe had, it was a regional licence for waterford and with Beat FM's introduction as a regional radio station it caused a problem. /me thinks anyway, i'm probably wrong!

hmm.....97.4 seems unlikely as WLR is 97.5...........would never have happened.

It all went downhill due to crap management.

They applied for a 'local' radio licence that would broadcast out further then the range of the college grounds. Then when it fell through and they couldnt afford it, something went wrong with their re-application on the college licence.

In the end it would have cost too much to start the whole thing off again, so they decided to can it. :(

Dont think were missing out on much, college radio, much like most college media, is highly restricted, appealls to the lowest common denominator, and is hardly exciting.
And i hate when stations suck in the easy audience and dont challenge listeners. I should know, i work for Beat. :(

So were probably better off without one :P
