Requirements for a dvd burner

    hey

    im gonna be buying a dvd burner soon but i had some worries that my computer isn't powerful enough to work it properly

    i have a 600mhz Pentium 3 processor with 128 MB ram... is it powerful enough?

    that should work as long as you keep the burn speeds low. Check out the requirements before buying a burner to be sure.

    dunno. i have a p3 800mhz and 384mb ram xp pro, and i can burn dvd's fine, i use dvd santa as opposed to nero of similar software.
    granted it talks about a hour but im normally not in a rush with that type if stuff. think 128mb ram might be too little though.


    edit: re: other post, even on lowest burn speeds think 128mb ram could cause problems

    Should be fine. Get something like an NEC3540 or Pioneer 109. The NEC is cheaper and should only set you back about €50. Make sure you have enabled DMA for the controller you connect it to. You can find that option in the device manager, google for 'enable dma mode' or similar to find out exactly how as it depends on your OS.

    I doubt you will have dma on a P3
    One thing, You probally need a bigger hdd
