Iv been looking into having my teeth bleached, my dentist told me it will cost €420. I was just wondering if anybody has had it done and if so was it worth the money, also if they can compare it to the cheaper option of the DIY kits for sale in boots as I havent tried either yet.

    Cheers :)

I always get the DIY kits. Never bothered with the professional stuff.
I usually bring my stuff back from Germany. They have ones that are strips that you put on your teeth and leave them on for about 30 mins or so.
Not sure if you can get them here yet.
Dont bother getting the stick that you just paint on to your teeth. Did not think that work at all, I found.

There was a discussion about this a while back, though it may not have been on after hours, and I think there were some posts by a dentist/trainee dentist. Anyway, from what I remember, the general consensus was that bleaching your teeth is a bad idea. It essentially scrapes away the enamel from your teeth to show the white underneath. Over time, this seriously decays your teeth. Even whitening toothpastes do the same thing. Hence no decent dentist would recommend you use any of these products/services.

Boots and other OTC bleaching kits that you can get here don't work(don't have a high enough % of peroxide)I got mine done at the dentist after braces had left one badly dicolored.Deffo worth the money.

I used the home bleaching kits and got terrible pain in my teeth plus it didn't whiten them at all, like someone else said the level of peroxide in them isn't very strong in ireland.

I know a few people who ordered home kits off american websites as they contain a higher level of peroxide.

Side the home kit which would be much milder than what the dentist puts on your teeth left me in such pain I didn't risk getting it done.

Any good dentist wouldn't recommend it as it damages your teeth.

I just go with the good oul brushing of the teeth. Always worked for me. Unless you have a condition., then i'd recommend gettin done profesionally. I know a few people that have tried the home kit and got nuthin out of it but a pain.
