There were similar stories after the Asian tsunami, taxi drivers claiming to have picked up tourists and after arriving at the destination finding they were no longer in cab.

Many health professionals and aid workers have reported widespread psychological trauma associated with the tsunami, and many sightings of ghosts have been reported, particularly those of foreigners. Traditional beliefs in many of the affected regions state that a relative of the family must bury the body of the dead or the ghost will return. Some psychologists interpret this as evidence of psychological trauma.

Not surprised.New Orleans is the most haunted city in the USA.It has more psychic investigators than anywhere else in the USA.Has more weird history, with voodoo, murders, etc. And after a traumatic event like a hurricane, there should be plenty of disturbed psychic energy.
