Right, couldn't see if anyone else had posted these so here we go. Please do threat these with a pinch of salt as they are not "official" so may well indeed be wrong. They have come from the same source however that nailed the 360 and PS3 specs before they were released so they may well be on the money.

    Revolution:
The CPU is rumored to be a single dual-threaded IBM "custom" PowerPC 2.5 GHz CPU, with 256 KB L1 cache and 1 MB of L2 cache (L3 cache is rumored). The system will also sport a Physical Processing Chip (PPU) with 32MB of dedicated RAM. The CPU will be saddled up next to 512MB of system RAM. The custom ATI GPU solution is rumored to consist of a RN520 600MHz core, backed with 256MB of RAM and "32 parallel floating-point dynamically scheduled shader pipelines." While the output will be capable of putting out 1080p resolution (higher even, at 2048x1268). HD support has not yet been decided.

According to that i'ts also supposed to be on a par with the xbox360 and close to the PS3...which is untrue as Nintendo have no intention of trying to compete with MS and sony on specs. They are taking the smarter approach of spending their money on an innovative controller which will hopefully equal innovative games that dont cost the same as a hollywood blockbuster to produce

Well the big difference here i suppose is there is no multi core or cell. They are a lot more expensive to produce than the processor currently on the offer here.

I don't think the Revolution will be as far behind the other two consoles technically as most people think it will be. Sony and Microsoft are already in the process of overexaggerating the power of their consoles. Nintendo give more realistic figures for console performance.

I agree, while I'd be amazed to see the Rev on par with the 360 or ps3, I'd be surprised if it wasn't close. Nintendo know that some people still want great graphics, and while the controller is their main selling point they shouldn't sit back and relax with everything else. Also, nintendo 1st party devs have always been able to squeeze more out of their machines than MS or Sony, so their games look better than they should when you compare on paper.

I like the way the Revolution is shaping up so far. In the past alot of technically inferior consoles have come up tops, if even by brand name and association in most cases, but at least Nintendo have a recognised ingeniunity when it comes to games and originality.

Thats always been the main selling point of everything they make and sell, and it's pretty much the way its going to stay for the near future, and as long as that tradition continues, people will continue supporting Nintendo.

I'm thinking of getting one myself, especially considering its going to be more pocket friendly, and I can't wait to see the wave of games released within the first few months by Nintendo themselves.

I'd love to see an Advance Wars game that actually ties in with the others, not like the renamed GC version that had nothing but a name in common :(

my first thoughts when I saw the new controller were 'fanny-magnet' so I'll probably get one as I dont think many women are going to bother with revamped xbox1 and ps2 games. we need more women playing games and they dont need realism they want cutesy stuff that a decent (but not too powerfull) console can achieve

Well, nintendo have said it wont be as powerfull as the other consoles, but they think it wont matter. But you never know with Nintendo.

we need games here. looking at the res5 trailer for ps3, it's hard to think the rev can do that... but like everyone says, you just never know with nintendo.

as for sparring with the 360 and ps3... i'm just in awe of the ps3. it's plain to see it's the winner in terms of specs (i know, there's a lot of hype, but it's pretty obvious at this stage). 360, however, seems to just look like xbox1.5, every video out there looks distinctly average. just better draw distance etc.

We need to see games for the PS3 as well. that Resi 5 trailer was of the xbox360 version.

as you said at the begining. we need games. its all about games. I think people are being overly critical about the 360 and there does seem to be a healthy bit of hate all things microsoft going on. but the revolution has caught my eye because of its immersion in games. the others have stuck wtih the same format. same idea more power... ninty on teh other hand have reshuffled the deck.

Yup, everyone is only putting down the 360, but no one has seen actual ps3's or rev's running games.. I mean we've seen Footage of a ps3 apparently running, but those things tend to ly somewhat.. >_> <_<

well its popular now to put the 360 down. for some reason people have this thing that its xbox 1.5 rather than next gen, tell me whats so different about the ps3 that makes that so so much better than the xbox? nothing, personally i put the 360 and ps3 on par.

whats funny is all the xbox 1.5 heads going on about "ouh im getting a ps3 because im in awe of its ability to make 4.5billion thingys that i have no idea what they are"...

we haven't seen anything of the ps3 and already people are creaming themselves over it.

you're absolutely correct. but go read the documentation for cell or the rsx. yes, it's just documentation. but playstation fans and PC gamers alike should drool at the figures.

before you say "yeah, it's impressive looking. but it's sony. i.e. a lie", go back and look at the figures for ps2. pretty much what was released. and the videos they showed back then pretty much match up to what ps2 is pushing out now (look at burnout revenge for example. runs smoother on ps2 then xbox [my brother has the xbox version])

yeah pretty much the same way san andreas runs smoother on the xbox, we could be here all night comparing games for and against.

your right though, the ps2 was pretty much what was released, that emotion chip, that tunes into the emotion of the player who is playing the games really blew me away i have to say! still can't get over how good it is in games.
