Fujitsu-Siemens' - any good?

Howdy all, am looking to buy a laptop, partly for college, but something with decent overall power would be nice too, hopefully i'll be able to stretch to around 1300 euro. I wouldn't be carrying it about all that much so i'm not really worried about weight etc.

I've been looking at this Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo M 1425 (full specs here) and it seems to be pretty sweet. PM 1.7ghz, 512mb ram,60gig HD,DVD burner, 128mb radeon 9700 graphics card (which is nice, but isn't my main criteria for choosing). All costing around in and around 1250 on most sites i've seen, which to me seems cheap,as an Inspiron 6000 with basically the same setup is closer to 1500.

Just wondering for opinions really,is there a wekaness i dont see, people's experiences of Fujitsu-Siemens' etc.

Also does dropping in more RAM generally invalidate the warranty on a laptop?

FSC are a very good brand, Siemens build quality and fairly decent prices. One thing i would recommend tho is have a look at the Lifebook range instead of the amilo if you can afford it. They are far better performance and quality wise and tend to have three year warranties. www.wemakesure.ie has their full range and list of resellers. The amilos are very good and excellent value but they do put a lot more of everything into the lifebooks and is well worth the extra few quid. Prob a very good idea to go check a few of them out instore somewhere where u can get a feel for the display/weight/performance etc.
